Barb & Mike’s Dog-friendly Desert Oasis

Set against the foothills near Redington Pass, Barb and Mike's newly constructed home transformed from a barren blank slate into a thriving desert habitat in just a single growing season. The design centered on solving significant drainage and erosion challenges through integrated water harvesting while also accounting for the site's relentless winds - all without sacrificing the sweeping views of the Rincon and Catalina Mountains that make the property so special. Native plants were thoughtfully selected for the area's slightly cooler elevation and carefully arranged to create a resilient, living landscape that supports wildlife while preserving an unofficial running track where their two energetic pups can race to their hearts' content. The result is a garden that is both practical and beautiful, deeply connected to its surroundings, and already full of life.
