The "Sonoran Desert Preserve" Project

Set way out near the Tucson Mountains and the edges of Saguaro National Park, this garden began as a true blank slate - brand-new custom home construction surrounded by raw desert. In a short time, it was transformed into a wild yet intentional landscape, one that doesn’t try to tame nature but instead gives plants and animals the space to behave as they need to. The design carefully blends the beauty of the surrounding desert with protected pockets of rich, layered diversity, creating a seamless dialogue between cultivated and wild. The result is a living landscape that feels deeply rooted in place and is a genuine source of joy for the homeowners who get to experience it every day.
